You can use the EditSite tool to create a Project Server hosted deployment and to edit the properties for existing hosted sites. A hosted deployment is a large installation of Project Server 2003 that hosts Project Server site collections for departments or divisions within the organization. The host can also be an application service provider that hosts Project Server site collections for other companies, similar to the way that an Internet service provider hosts websites.

It looks like VPN or TS are better methods of getting to Project Server, it seems to be too slow otherwise...

Allowing Project Server 2003 access over the extranet requires port 1433 to be opened so Project can access SQL Server. Also with SharePoint on the same box, Project has to be installed to a seperate port, so that one has to be opened also.

Microsoft Project Server - Setting up Enterprise Projects vs. Non- Enterprise

Microsoft Project Server - Setting up Enterprise Projects vs. Non- Enterprise: "Setting up Enterprise Projects vs. Non- Enterprise "

The error message indicates that you are not logged into Project Server
through Microsoft Project Professional before you attempt to publish the
project. In addition, because you are not logged into Project Server, the
project you created is not an enterprise project because it is not saved in
the Project Server database. To log into Project Server, you must first do
the following setup procedure:

1. Open Microsoft Project
2. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Microsoft Project Server Accounts
3. Click the Add button
4. Give your login an Account Name
5. Enter your company's Project Server URL
6. Click the Test button to confirm you have a valid working URL
7. Select the "Set as default account" option
8. Click OK
9. Select the "Manually control detection state" option
10. Click the OK button

Once you have completed the previous steps, you must close and relaunch
Microsoft Project. In the Project Server Accounts dialog, make sure your
user login is selected and click the Connect button. Once done, you should
now import your nonenterprise project into the Project Server database using
Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise. Pay special
attention to the page where you must "synch up" the local resources in your
project with enterprise resources found in the Enterprise Resource Pool.
Hope this helps.
